While we finished out September great. Ate meals made at home. We did have a few busy days where we packed lunches and snacks. We saved by not eating out and my husband bought me some jewelry. :) I enjoyed that. So this month I am going to cut our grocery bill by more then half. The 28th I went to the store with coupons and my mini me. Daddy stayed home with Dan. We picked up chicken, snacks and a few odds and ends. Spent $46 on just the food. I bought other things like kids sippy cups and pans. I used sales and coupons to buy extra. Then got some veggies and lunches later. I have a months worth of dinners, breakfast and most lunches for...... $170. So that leaves us with $30 for veggies later and snacks. I am excited. Now we don't have big meals, we are using what is in the pantry, and eating more filling foods then light. We also have added more salads to our diet. John keeps dropping weight with zero effort. Me on the other hands have only dropped 2/3lbs depending on time I weigh myself. Wanna know what has made us the happiest about eating from home? Is Daniel and his eating, he now eats carrots, cucumber, apples and is willing to try foods with less fight. He still loves corn and mashed potatoes. This month we will continue eating from home but with a twist. Twist, yes twist. I have always want to cook better and bake with ease. So I will be using our processes food up as we go but 2/3 times a week I will make scratch meal. So I will make pumpkin pie, apple pie, cookies, pasta and more. So while trying to keep our grocery bill down close to $200 as possible and making meals from home, I will be making more food from scratch. Here is to a fun month of savings and learning.
